About NMBL’s work…

The NMBL Strategies’ team has a deep history of working with Black Arts organizations. It was this experience that prompted Obsidian to reach out to NMBL Strategies. In February 2023 NMBL Strategies began work with Obsidian Arts & Literature, a 49 year old publishing group tied into Illinois State University. NMBL’s work followed our path of engaging input from internal and external groups through interviews and surveys, as well as benchmarking peer organizations, and digging into the rich history of Obsidian. These efforts brought about a number of opportunities for Obsidian as they approach their 50th anniversary, but also allowed the NMBL team to play a small part in aligning the next 50 years of Obsidian.
